Essence Merlot

Strong red wine characterized by an aromatic and magical combination of cherries and strawberries and a delicate aroma of tobacco and pine needles. Merlot Essence connects two vineyards that complement each other perfectly. The main vineyard, in the Valley of Elah, offers a velvety softness, while the other, in the Ephraim Hills, contributes to the solid structure of the wine. After alcoholic fermentation, the wine is soaked in the skin for about 5 days. After the extended maceration is complete, the grapes are slowly squeezed under low pressure into a stainless steel tank for malolactic fermentation which stabilizes and softens the wine (this is done separately for each vineyard). After malolactic fermentation, the wine begins an 18-month maturation process in new and two-year-old French oak barrels. During maturation, all casks are tasted and the final blend is designed to reflect the correct composition of both vineyards in the final wine. After the maturation process, the wine is bottled and continues to mature for another 10 months before being released.

The vineyard was founded in 1870 by Abraham Teperberg and his son Zeev Zaid Teperberg. Managed by Moti Teperberg, Teperberg is now one of Israel's leading wineries, producing over 100 varieties of wine and grape juice. The company sells over four million bottles annually, locally and worldwide. Teperberg is mentioned as one of the most famous Israeli vineyards.
