Tommasi's passion for wine and the desire to discover and choose the best Italian vineyards led them to Puglia. About 80 hectares of land have been purchased in Manduria, in the Salento area, one of the best Primitivo grape-growing zones. The viticulture there is of extremely ancient origin, dating back to the Magna Graecia times.

Ares Rosso might seem aggressive because of its name - Ares was the Greek god of war - but in reality, wine is extremely limited, especially in terms of alcohol, which, according to the Tommasi family, the owners of the property, is key to making wine sustainable in Apulia. The wine is a blend of Primitivo and Negroamaro, the two main indigenous grapes in the region. The highest quality fruit needed for the production of this wine is obtained by strict selection of clones, modern grapevine training systems and strong pruning in order to produce a small amount of high quality wines respecting the terroir and tradition.
