The wine matured for 16 months in French oak barrels, 2/3 of which were new barrels and 1/3 were one-year-old barrels.

Complex and rich on the nose, with clear aromas of forest berries, black cherries, hints of licorice, oak and menthol. In the mouth, the wine is full, round and strong, with velvety tannins, perfectly balanced. Chateau Clarke has great aging potential. It is best to drink them in the years 2019-2031. Perfect for grilled meats, lamb dishes and exquisite cheeses.

The origins of this property date back to the 12th century, when the Cistercians of Vertheuil Abbey planted the first vines there. Chateau Clarke owes its name to an Irish family who owned the estate in 1771. After more than 200 years of viticulture and wine production by successive owners, the property was purchased in 1973 by Baron Edmond de Rothschild. Thanks to huge financial investments in the complete renovation of the vineyards, the purchase of the most modern equipment and the restoration of the buildings, the best possible conditions were created for this unique expression of Merlot - the main, yet unusual red grape variety for this appeal, which was used for the production of this wine. Since the first vintage of Chateau Clarke in 1978, the quality has never stopped improving. This wine has become an authority for other wines from this region.
