Volnay is the epitome of femininity, the complete opposite of the male Pommard. Even the architecture of the region reflects the differences. The cozy, narrow streets of Volnay are full of graceful buildings that crowd one another. In Pommard, however, stately houses hidden behind fences proudly guard the great church standing in the town's main square. However, they have something in common - Pinot Noir. The Volnay grapevines are characterized by elegant tannins and firm fruits: cherry, raspberry and red plum. It is one of the twenty-nine Premiere Cru in Burgundy and one of the four appeals in Beaune.
Bouchard Pere & Fils, founded in Beaune in 1731, is one of the oldest wineries in Burgundy. Over the centuries, Bouchard has built one of the best estates in the region on one hundred and thirty hectares. The experience gained for over 280 years translates into the quality of all the wines of the producer.
