The vineyard is situated at an altitude of 1100 m above sea level, at the foot of the Andes, in the land of stones and gravel, with a continental climate. Such a landscape is perfect for the expression of the Malbec grape variety. This strain is uniquely suited to this semi-desert climate, soils lacking in organic minerals and, like in New Zealand, warm sunny days and cool nights. The influx of cold air at night maintains high acidity, making it perfect for aging and bringing great complexity to the wine.
The Bodega Flechas de los Andes was born out of the union between Baron Benjamin de Rothschild and Laurent Dassault, who were looking for the perfect "terroir" in the Mendoza region of western Argentina. The name "Flechas de los Andes" refers to the 5 arrows, the symbol of the Rothschild family.
