Macabeo (Viura) is a Spanish variety that comes from La Rioja, where it is the primary white variety. It is also very famous and widely cultivated in Castile and Catalonia. Bushes give few bunches, but they are large. This strain is much more productive than red varieties, but its berries are very sensitive to climatic conditions and therefore difficult to grow.
