Les Granges
Very beautiful deep garnet color. The wine presents a brilliant nose marked by ripe, fresh fruits. Fine woody, slightly vanilla notes complete the bouquet after aeration. The mouth is very elegant, where the coated tannins are tempered by a nice acidity. The whole is elegant, long, intense and gives way to a fruity and tasty finish.
This wine could be tasted now but will benefit from being kept in the cellar for a few more years in good conditions. It can be kept from 5 to 7 years. Advised serving temperature: 18°C.
Drink with grilled meat, and French cheese.
Belonging to the Cistercian monks at Vertheuil Abbey in the 12th century, the vast “Les Granges” estates once stretched over five communes in the southern Médoc. The three vineyards that Baron Edmond de Rothschild acquired in 1973 and 1979 were originally part of this huge property split up over the years due to inheritance. This cuvée is made primarily of a selection of young Merlot (and Cabernet Sauvignon), grown on these three vineyards with clay-limestone soil in Moulis and Listrac. It was then aged for one year in vats and French oak barrels. Les Granges reveals a beautiful structure and an attractive fruity aftertaste. Les Granges can age in a cellar but is also enjoyable even when young with your favourite meats and cheeses.
WINEMAKING Cold maceration before fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Automatic temperature control. Micro oxygenation in tank.
