The Tommasi company was founded in 1902. Initially it functioned as Grandfather Giacomo's small wine farm, but over the years it has grown into the largest family estate in Valpolicella Classico, run by the fourth generation of the family. It currently covers 195 hectares of vineyards, 105 hectares of which are in Valpolicella Classico. Tommasi is located in Pedemonte, in the north-west of Verona, in the heart of the historical region "Classico", which produces the best quality wines.
Amarone della Valpolicella is made from grape varieties native to the Valpolicella area, mainly Corvina and Corvinone, and other grapes such as Rondinella and Oseleta. These strains are particularly well suited to the appassimento process. When dried, the Corvin fruits undergo gene activation as if they had a second life in them that allows the wine to develop cherry and violet aromas, as well as greater structure and body.
