The location of Heiligkreuz in Bechtheim was first mentioned in 1500. In the so-called "Leininger Terroir" it was established in 1780 that only Riesling and Gewürztraminer could be grown in Bechtheim. The Gewürztraminer grapes are reddish. The variety probably comes from Egypt and was first mentioned in the 11th century in Tramin, South Tyrol. Hence the name of this aromatic grape variety.
The Weingut Erbeldinger family winery has been successfully producing wines for over 50 years. It is conducted in an ecological manner. The vines grow on loess-clay soils in prime locations in Bechtheim and Gundheim in the Rheinhessen region. This area is not only the largest wine territory, but the most dynamic with the greatest number of new vineyards with young winemakers who combine tradition with modernity. The vineyard produces varieties that are typical of this region, which offer full flavor and moderate alcohol content.
