The first traces of vineyards in Aloxe-Corton come from the 2nd century BC.
Corton is the only Grand Cru red wine in the Côte de Beaune and in the Côte d'Or, coming from an appellation divided into "sub-climates". "Le Corton" is a historic vineyard that gave its name to the entire Appellate of Corton.
