It was fully matured in used French oak barrels. A multi-layer wine with a solid structure. It is dominated by aromas and flavors of smoked plums, anise and roasted nuts. The tannins are velvety and present in the mouth, with a tarry finish.
The wine is a classic blend of red grape varieties for this appellation: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Although in Saint-Julien you will not find wines classified as Premier Cru Classe, there are as many as 11 properties of another Cru Classe, which account for three-quarters of all wines produced in this appellation. Saint-Julien's reputation is based on the status of a reliable source of consistently elegant wines with long aging potential.
