The wine is a classic blend of red grape varieties for this appellation: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc.
Although in Saint-Julien you will not find wines classified as Premier Cru Classe, there are as many as 11 properties of another Cru Classe, which account for three-quarters of all wines produced in this appellation. Saint-Julien's reputation is based on the status of a reliable source of consistently elegant wines with long aging potential.
