Tommasi

Tommasi is a family story told with a deep love of wine and hospitality. The story of four generations who fulfilled their passion in the best terroir and made perfection their mission.

History

The Tommasi family has been producing wine for over 100 years, since Giacomo Battista Tommasi bought a small vineyard in Valpolicella Classica in 1902. Throughout this time spanning four generations, the family has always directly managed the company through innovative decisions while maintaining respect, understanding and love of tradition and territory. Introducing thoughtful changes, respect for the environment and product quality are the three principles that made the Tommasi family a leader in the Italian wine market. Tommasi means the strength of the family.

Regions

Tommasi Family Estates represents a family project to produce excellent wines in the most famous Italian regions. Since 1997, the fourth generation of winemakers has enriched their estates by choosing outstanding terroirs outside Valpolicella Classica. Tommasi properties extend over 570 hectares in four of Italy's best wine regions:

Tommasi Viticoltori, Verona - Veneto

Tenuta Caseo, Oltrepň Pavese - Lombardy

Podere Casisano, Montalcino - Tuscany

Poggio al Tufo, Maremma Toscana - Tuscany

Masseria Surani, Manduria - Apulia

Paternoster, Barile - Basilicata

Vineyards

Tommasi Viticoltori is located in Pedemonte, a small village in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region. The company has grown over the decades, from the small vineyard of Grandfather Giacomo Tommasi to an estate extending over a total area of 205 hectares: 105 hectares in the Valpolicella Classica region, on the prestigious La Groletta, Conca d'Oro and Ca 'Florian hills, and 100 hectares in the DOC regions in Verona. The result is the production of excellent wines using mainly native grapes and according to traditional methods.

Cellars

The cellar is the heart of the vineyard. Large Slavic oak barrels are the hallmark of the Tommasi style in the wine tradition as well as the perfect elegance and expressiveness of each wine. Nearby the historic barrels bearing the monogram of the founder Giacomo is also the Magnifica, the largest barrel in the world. The precious wines of Tommasi mature in the harmonious silence of the underground cellar.

Caseo - Lombardy

The Caseo estate is located in Oltrepň Pavese, Lombardy, a territory of ancient and noble origins that has been home to a vineyard since 1200. The property covers 120 hectares of which 90 hectares are vineyards, and the remaining 30 hectares are forest, hunting reserve and the natural surroundings of vineyards. In a cellar with elegant architecture, we will see the soul of wines and those who produce them, and the finesse of wine production, by capturing the personality of Pinot Nero, preserving the aromatic qualities of Moscato and using the full potential of the native vineyards.

Poggio al Tufo - Tuscany

Poggio al Tufo is the first historical project of the Tommasi family outside the Valpolicella Classica region, started in 1997. It currently comprises 3 estates: Tenuta Rompicollo in Pitigliano, 66 hectares; Tenuta Doganella, in Pitigliano with an area of 24 hectares devoted entirely to the cultivation of organic vines; Tenuta Albore in Scansano, with 80 hectares of vineyards. It is the story of the fascinating Tuscan terroirs where an ambitious project began: creating high-quality wines in the territories of the Maremma Toscana.

Masseria Surani - Apulia

Situated in the heart of Manduria, in Puglia, Masseria Surani is a project full of history and culture, with grapevine growing back in the ancient times of Magna Graecia. With fifty-five hectares of vineyards grown organically, Surani's philosophy is based on the idea of producing excellent wines from local varieties such as Primitivo, Negroamaro and Fiano as well as preserving natural resources and biodiversity.

Tommasi Family Estates Hospitality

Along with the love of the vine, the Tommasi Family also nurtured a love of hospitality. It was from these twin passions that the Tommasi Family Estates Hospitality project was born; its main focus is on wine, hospitality and territory. In the first years of the 20th century, Giacomo's great-grandfather opened and gave one of his sons a traditional Osteria restaurant on the outskirts of Verona city center, which was a meeting place where you could enjoy wine. Today, for the Tommasi family, hospitality is linked to several places throughout Italy where you can discover and appreciate wines straight from their own places of origin:

Villa Quaranta, in Valpolicella - Verona

Albergo Mazzanti in the center of Verona

Caffè Dante Bistrot in the center of Verona

Agriturismo Poggio al Tufo, in Pitigliano - Maremma Toscana
