The wine was made exclusively from the white Grenache variety, the grapes of which were harvested by hand from old vines over fifty years old. The wine was aged in small oak barrels.

A dazzling series of aromas emanates from this perfectly balanced Rivesaltes Ambré. It contains notes of dried apricot, orange peel and walnuts. The perfect companion for foie-gras, yellow fruit desserts, ginger bread and macarons, not to mention a dried fruit or soft cheese aperitif.

Château l'Esparrou was built between 1889 and 1891 by the Danish architect Petersen, who, after the fall of Roussillon, designed most of the castles of this golden age for grapevines over the course of half a century. Château l'Esparrou has long enjoyed a great reputation: the famous "Guide to France" from 1813 already classified these wines among the best crus Roussillon.

The vineyard stretches over the clay hills near the salt lake of Canet and the Mediterranean Sea, with breathtaking views of Mount Canigou. 60 hectares of vines are surrounded by wild, natural spaces classified as "Natura 2000", the hillside is at the heart of a unique and protected environment - the "island vineyard".
