Weingut Erbeldinger

Weingut Erbeldinger

Philosophy

We focus on traditional German grape varieties and demonstrate their potential in the Rheinhessen region. For this reason, we do not use 225l oak barrels, only stainless steel barrels for white wines and 500l oak barrels for red wines. This is what we call "Modern flavor in the Rheinhessen tradition".

Family

We love what we do! When Gertrud and Kurt Erbeldinger established the farm, their main crops were maize, and fruits such as apples, peaches and grapes. After some time, however, they decided to focus only on grapes. Since the 1970s, the vineyard has won awards in local and international competitions. When Kurt Elberdinger died in 2001, his son Stefan and daughter-in-law Edith began to develop production step by step. Currently, the third generation is actively involved in the work in the vineyard. Christoph is a junior winemaker and brings new ideas to the winery, his girlfriend Gundi prepares meals for guests, and his sister Gudrun is in charge of sales and marketing. Every member of the Elberdinger family, from Grandma Gertrude to her grandchildren, has a share of the pleasure created for you.

Winery

Our family winery has been successfully producing wines for over 50 years. We are nature lovers, therefore we run our vineyards in an ecological manner. All our vines are grown on loess-clay soils in prime locations in Bechtheim and Gundheim in the Rheinhessen region. This area is not only the largest wine territory, but the most dynamic with the greatest number of new vineyards with young winemakers who combine tradition with modernity. In our vineyard we cultivate varieties typical of this region, which offer full flavor and moderate alcohol content. Our wine cellar can boast of many medal wines.

Strains

In our vineyard we mainly grow white varieties such as Riesling with its delicate shape, creamy Pinot Blanc, sophisticated Chardonnay and full, aromatic Gewürztraminner. We also devote our hearts and souls to varieties that are unique to this region, i.e Huxelrebe and Scheurebe. We also have red varieties such as the fruity and velvety Pinot Noir and Portugieser with their peppery notes. We offer a wide range of wines - from basic wines to premium wines, the so-called "Privat", and the highlight of our offer is "GLANZSTÜCK".

Awards

If you do something with passion, the results are more than good.

We are eighth in the DLG German Wine Competition ranking among the top 100 German wineries. Three of our Riesling received 90 points in the International Riesling Competition "Best of Riesling", our sparkling Riesling received the award "Best German Reisling Sekt". We also won 27 medals at the Rheinhessen wine competition.
